Welcome to Clue-Less, where players of all levels can enjoy the excitement of solving a mysterious murder! Whether you're a seasoned detective or new to the world of deduction, these rules will guide you through the thrilling journey of uncovering the truth.
Objective:
Mr. Black has been killed in his mansion! Your objective in Clue-Less is to be the first to correctly deduce the suspect, the murder weapon, and the room where the crime occurred. There are 6 potential suspects, 6 potential murder weapons, and 9 rooms in the mansion. Armed with only your detective notepad and deductive reasoning skills, you set out to solve the mystery!
Game Setup:
- To play Clue-Less, you have the option to host a new game or join an existing one.
- Once you're in a game, select your character from the available options.
- When the game starts, you will be placed in your character’s starting square on the game board, which consists of nine rooms laid out in a 3-by-3 grid. Each adjacent room is connected by a single hallway.
- At the start, the game will randomly determine the murder. It will secretly choose one of the six suspects, one of the six weapons, and one of the nine rooms. All other suspects, weapons, and rooms will be shuffled and randomly dealt to the players as Clue Cards.
- After receiving your Clue Cards, mark them off on your notepad. Because these cards were dealt to you, they cannot be part of the murder that killed Mr. Black!
Gameplay:
- Players take turns strategically moving their characters across the board. You may move your character one space up, down, left, or right, following the paths available. If you start your turn in a corner room, you may use your move to access a secret passage to the corresponding corner room on the opposite side of the board.
- Upon entering a new room, you have the opportunity to make a suggestion by selecting a suspect, a weapon, and the room you're currently in. The suspect’s character will be moved to the room. The next player will privately show you a Clue Card if they possess any related to your suggestion. If they don’t have a Clue Card pertaining to your suggestion, they pass to the next player.
- If no player can show you a Clue Card, and if the cards relating to your suggestion were not dealt to you, then you can deduce that those cards are related to the murder! Otherwise, just mark down the card shown to you in your notepad.
- You may choose to make an accusation at any point during your turn, but beware: an incorrect accusation eliminates you from further play.
- Keep exploring, making suggestions, and gathering clues until you're ready to solve the mystery by making an accusation.
Winning the Game:
To win Clue-Less, be the first to accuse the correct suspect, weapon, and room during your turn.
Additional Rules:
- Players cannot move through walls or into hallways occupied by another player.
- Players cannot make a suggestion while in the same room they started their turn in unless they were moved to that room by another player’s previous suggestion.
Whether you're a seasoned sleuth or new to the world of mystery games, Clue-Less offers an exhilarating experience of deduction and intrigue. Get ready to unravel the secrets of the mansion and emerge victorious!
